Exceptional Medical Care

We are fully prepared to manage the use of oxygen and other special equipment associated with our residents' needs.
If a resident becomes ill or requires a higher level of medical assistance for any reason, the Registered Nurse in charge is prepared to take the appropriate action immediately. If the need for additional care occurs at night, our entire staff of Certified Caregivers is prepared to act immediately according to a plan prepared by the Director. There is a medical clinic in Random Lake with a physician on call. In addition, there are two full-service hospitals within 20 minutes of Random Lake and a community ambulance service within two blocks of our door.

The services of the Visiting Nurse Association in Sheboygan County are also available around the clock for every resident of Gables whenever additional nursing support is needed.

Other Medical Specialists

Residents are visited regularly by an area foot specialist and a local optometrist and dentist are just a phone call away.

Daily Medical Care by a Registered Nurse

Our Two Registered Nurses keep complete medical records on each resident and these records are available to the physician upon request.

Medical Administration
Residents are responsible for purchasing their own medications. All the medications for each resident are in locked storage and managed by our staff. A Registered Nurse handles this personally each week. Medications are confirmed, and placed in each resident's locked storage for distribution by our staff. This procedure for handling medicines exceeds Wisconsin regulations for Community Based Residential Facilities and assures that all medicines are correctly dispensed as prescribed by each resident's physician.

In some cases, with approval of the physician, our residents may handle their own medications. We keep records and make sure that all residents take their medicines as prescribed.

Regular Outside Medical Care

We help our residents make regular visits to their own doctors, dentists, podiatrists, and other medical specialists. We have a handicapped-accessible van and a driver to transport residents to their medical visits in the area. This transportation is provided for a small additional fee.

Respite & Hospice Care

We are qualified to manage the special needs of residents who may be in long-term recovery from serious illness, injury, or surgery. We also offer respite care services for at-home caregivers who need to take a break and get away. From one day, to one week, or more, we care for your loved one just as you would, in addition, we are qualified to provide comfort and dignity to those in declining states of health. We work closely with several area Hospice providers to ensure our residents can stay at Gables thru the duration of their life.
